HAYS — If you figure your student loves math and science, the Kansas Academy of Mathematics and Science has a proposal that will add to their enjoyment.  The Kansas Academy of Mathematics and Science is the only early college program in Kansas for exceptional high school juniors and seniors.  The program offers a unique residential learning experience at Fort Hays Sate that offers college-level instruction, a high school diploma and 68 hours of college credit; hands-on research and leadership development.  Students must have completed at least two years of high school with distinction in mathematics or science and have a composite score of 23 on the ACT or a 1060 score on the SAT.  The academy will have information sessions across Kansas this spring for ninth-grade or younger students and their parents.  All sessions start at 2.  Registration is required.  The closest sessions are Saturday at the Topeka and Shawnee County Library and Sunday at the Bonner Springs City Library; June 5 at the Lawrence Public Library; and June 12 at Johnson County Community College’s Regnier Center in Overland Park.  Go to fhsu.edu/kams/meetings.
