GARNETT — Months after the opening of the new Anderson County Law Enforcement Center, county officials have hired a company to perform an energy audit. County Clerk Phyllis Gettler said the new center is using double the amount of electricity than was originally planned. The designers had estimated the center’s electric bills would be $3,000 to $5,000 per month but the cheapest electric bill for the new center was $6,800 last month and has been as high as $13,000, she told the Anderson County Review. The audit will cost $1,800 and the county wants to find out what can be done to cut the utility costs, she said. Head jailer Bob Wedel said the energy auditors have already started and have inspected the facility.
