KANSAS CITY — The Kansas City-area Salvation Army has raised more than $800,000 to help the survivors of the massive Jan. 12 earthquake in Haiti. The Salvation Army’s Amanda Waters said that nationally, the group has raised more than $15 million for the rebuilding efforts in Haiti. Over the last three months, the Salvation Army has distributed more than 4 million meals to earthquake survivors and provided medical care to nearly 25,000 people, she said. The Kansas City Salvation Army has sent four local emergency disaster workers to Haiti to assist with the recovery effort, she said.
