GARNETT — The Anderson County road department has run into several roadblocks in recent years due to budget constraints and the unavailability of certain types of gravel. County engineer Donna Schmidt told the Anderson County Review that this year won’t be any different. She expects the increase in cost of road oil to be the problem this year.
Schmidt said the county tries to chip-seal one-third of the county’s paved roads – that’s about 30 to 35 miles each year. The county will have to cut back because the cost of road oil increased after the county finished its budget for this year.
