OSAWATOMIE — The city of Osawatomie has bought the Adair homestead at 1925 Parker Avenue. John Brown Foundation president Karen LaDuex told the Osawatomie Journal that the homestead will be restored and the group will highlight its importance in the history of abolitionism. The site is where the Battle of Osawatomie started nearly 155 years ago and she said it may also be the smallest state park in Kansas. She said the foundation is planning a series of fundraisers for the site including Sunday’s bingo benefit.
