OTTAWA — Reconstruction work on the storm-damaged Ottawa airport should begin soon. City manager Richard Nienstedt said a new main hangar and terminal will be built south of the existing terminal building. The July microburst packed winds of 100 miles an hour and it destroyed two hangars and several airplanes. The city is issuing up to $1 million in bonds to help pay for the project and will be combined with a payment from the insurance company. The city is still negotiating with the insurance company, he said. Final decisions on the rebuild will be made soon and construction will get under way, he said. Nienstedt said he hopes the project will be done by October.
