OTTAWA — In an economy that isn’t coming up with lots of jobs for high school graduates, the Ottawa school board is looking for ways to even the odds for graduating Cyclones. The board heard a presentation Monday evening by Bonnie Duben on apprentice programs to provide job training for students. There are hundreds of apprentice programs available across the country and the district is looking at ones that represent the best opportunities, said assistant school superintendent Brian Kraus. He said Ottawa schools have some good early childhood programs that would be a good foundation for apprenticeships.
