OTTAWA — The county will buy 40 acres to expand the county landfill and transfer station on Osborne Terrace northeast of Ottawa. County commissioners signed the deal Wednesday. The property is directly across the road from the present landfill. The site would allow the transfer station to operate without having to buy another scale or building or employees, county administrator Lisa Johnson said. The cost for the land is $155,000. Johnson said the money for the purchase will come from transfer station revenues and would use no tax money.
