GARNETT–The Garnett Police Department is asking for help in locating a suspect wanted in a reported attempted kidnapping. A Department Press Release says the incident occurred on Wednesday, April 14 at about 4:30 pm. The victim is a 16 year old girl, who says she was at 13th and the Rail Trails in Garnett when a white car, perhaps a Buick…pulled up beside her. The suspect in the car asked the girl several times if she wanted a ride and she yelled “no” on the last attempt. At that point the girl says the man tried to force her into his car. She ran from the scene. The male suspect is described as white, in his thirties, dressed in blue jeans and a plaid green shirt with short-cropped black hair and a receding hairline. She described the man as speaking with a lisp and was possibly mentally handicapped. The white car is described as very clean inside while the outside is dirty.
