TOPEKA — The Kansas Department of Transportation said you should pay attention and slow down whenever you approach or drive through a highway work zone.
KDOT said accidents that kill or injure highway workers are the result of driver error and are preventable. In the U.S., 700 people were killed while they were working in highway work zones last year. This week is National Work Zone Awareness Week.
