Nearly 18,000 kids take part in Fitness Day events across the state. The Kansas Department of Health and Environment said the events are designed to show kids that physical activity is fun. Sacred Heart student Tucker Mace is convinced, saying he particularly enjoyed field hockey. After several days of testing and the approach of the end of school, the students needed an outlet to burn pent-up energy, said Paula Campbell, Sunflower Elementary School paraprofessional, Paola.
