OTTAWA — The Ottawa City Commission agreed to sell up to $1 million in bonds to help rebuild the Ottawa airport. The airport was severely damaged by a windstorm last summer. The city will combine the bond money with an insurance settlement for damage to the airport. However, city manager Richard Nnienstedt said the size of the insurance settlement is still up in the air. The insurance company hasn’t been willing to agree with the city on the amount of the settlement but Nienstedt said he hope to come up with an agreement soon. A committee will present a final draft of rebuilding plans to the commission after that, he said.
