OTTAWA — On a 4-1 vote Wednesday night, City Commissioner Linda Reed was named Ottawa’s new mayor. She succeeds Blake Jorgensen. Reed said the city commission will have to be careful with its spending while maintaining its buildings and properties to avoid more costly spending later. She said her priorities for the year is an energy-conservation program, rebuilding the airport and attracting more industries. Commissioner Sara Humm cast the dissenting vote. Under the commission’s normal custom of electing mayors, Humm would have been the mayor. However, she was elected mayor pro-tem. She will serve as mayor in Reed’s absence.
