APPANOOSE — Lightning hit the Old Appanoose School Museum this morning, causing a fire that damaged the northeast room and many of its artifacts. Assistant Pomona Fire Chief Alan Radcliffe said some of the artifacts in the room received some damage and the entire building received smoke damage. Firefighters from Centropolis, Lincoln-Ottawa-Harrison, Williamsburg and Osage County responded to the fire. Deputies from Franklin and Osage counties also helped control traffic.
