OVERLAND PARK — A Baker University official has announced she’s running for the U.S. Senate. Lisa Johnston is the second Democrat to file for the seat, currently held by Sam Brownback, who’s running for governor. Johnston, Overland Park, is assistant dean for student academic services at Baker in Baldwin City. She said she believes Kansans will elect the right Democrat. Charles Schollenberger, Prairie Village newsman, is also seeking the Democratic nomination. On the Republican side, Congressmen Jerry Moran and Todd Tiahrt are locked in an increasing bitter primary battle.
