OTTAWA — The county will increase its environmental health and septic inspection fees. With one exception, county planner Larry Walrod said the increases will relatively small. He said his department researched comparable fees in other counties and found Franklin County’s is lower and even with the increases, are among the lowest. The exception: The inspections fee for do-it-yourselfers will double from $50 to $100. Inspectors usually have to make more trips and inspections for property owners doing their own work, he said. However, he said that even with the increase, the fee is still lower than most other inspection fees.
