PAOLA — So your kids are always underfoot? In one case, that’s good.
Miami County Conservation District manager Jenny Jasper said her new soil tunnel trailer gives veryone a worm’s eye view of the world. The trailer represents a section of the underside of harney loam, the state’s official soil, she said. That includes roots hanging from the top and part of an earthworm peeking out, she said. The trailer teaches school children about the earth and how humans can affect it, she said. The trailer visited Franklin County recently for the Earth Festival. Jasper said the trailer was designed to make it easy for Kansas teachers to work it into lesson plans and meet state curriculum standards.
