OTTAWA — Sheriff’s Lt. Jeff Curry will be the next Franklin County sheriff.
Curry and retired Shawnee County deputy Jim Honn were candidates to succeed Sheriff Craig Davis who’s stepping down June 30. Republican county committee members selected Curry on an 18-13 vote Monday night. Curry is a 17-year veteran of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department and has been a lieutenant for one year. He has been a 16-year member of the U.S. Marines and Marine Reserves.
Because Davis is a Republican, the Republican county committee picked his successor.
Curry’s name will be submitted to Gov. Mark Parkinson who will appoint him.
