POMONA — A group seeks to recall Pomona Mayor Joanne Hancock. Franklin County Clerk Shari Perry said she has received the petition and has submitted it to County Attorney Heather Jones. Perry said the group can’t begin collecting signatures until Jones approves it. Hancock has been at odds with most of the Pomona City Council and has filed a lawsuit against them. The petition states that Hancock has failed to sign checks to pay the city’s bills and which have been approved by the city council, refusing to swear in a city attorney legally selected by the council, refusing to sign the minutes of meetings approved by the council and for openly discussing information from executive sessions. Former city council member Mary Whitaker, Jerald Johnson and Patricia Schultz are on the recall committee.
