OTTAWA — The county has accepted the low bid of nearly $5,400 from Larsen and Associates of Lawrence to test the groundwater monitoring wells at the closed Franklin County landfill. County solid waste director Rick Sawin said the Kansas Department of Health and Environment wants the tests done for several different types of water polllutants this year. Once the tests are completed, the county shouldn’t have to do more monitoring tests until 2015, he said.
