GARNETT — Anderson County engineer Donna Schmit has resigned. She has accepted a part-time position as an administrative assistant for the Lake Region RC&D. Schmit said she wanted more family time for her four children. County commission chairman Gene Highberger told the Anderson County Review that her resignation was a surprise. He said Schmit did a good job and he hates to lose her. Highberger said the county commission will have to decide whether to find an engineer or an administrator to head the public works department.
