APPANOOSE — There will be windiness at Appanoose Elementary School Tuesday afternoon at 1 but that won’t be because of all the politicians there. Appanoose and KCP&L will have a ribbon-cutting for a new wind turbine at the school. The wind turbine was installed as part of the Kansas Wind for Schools program. The turbine was financed through grants and donations from KCP&L, the state of Kansas, Kansas State University, Performance Electric of Ottawa, and the Energy Savings Store. The turbine will generate power for the school but will also be part of interactive science classes involving renewable energy. Speakers include Franklin County Commissioner Ed Taylor and State Sen. Pat Apple.
