KANSAS CITY — A 39-year-old Olathe man has received a five-year federal prison term for bank robbery. Earlier, Joseph Markham pleaded guilty to one count of bank robbery. U.S. Attorney Lanny Welch said Markham admitted that on Sept. 1, he robbed the First National Bank in Overland Park by saying he had placed a bomb in the bank and in a nearby school. He said Markham told investigators he had lost money gambling the day before and decided to rob the bank so he could pay his bills.
