OTTAWA — The city commission is looking a gift road in the mouth. Now that the new U.S. 59 expressway is open, the state wants to turn over the Old 59 highway to the city and county. However, city manager Richard Nienstedt said the city commissioners want the road to be in good repair before they take it on the city’s behalf. Killough Construction, Ottawa, has been picked to resurface the old highway before it’s turned over.
