OTTAWA — Local officials are hoping to open a door into the Kansas- Missouri bio-science animal corridor, the largest concentration such bio-tech firms in the world. Tom Weigand, president of Ottawa Area Chamber of Commerce and Ottawa/Franklin County Economic Development Council, said he’s on a team that trying to find that opening. The team includes Ottawa University president Kevin Eichner and OU officials and they’ll meet with Lynn Parman, biosciences director for the Kansas City Area Development Council on Friday to discuss strategy, Weigand said. Parman recently talked to a county summit of local officials about the bio-science corridor. Her presentation was featured on last Sunday’s Community Perspective program.
