OTTAWA — The Franklin County Historical Society is creating a digital site on the Internet for the 150th anniversary of Kansas. The Web site will include area historical information, photos and documents, said Deb Barker, historical society executive director. The work on the site is an illustration of a new Johns Hopkins University survey that shows widespread innovation among the nation’s nonprofits. About 82 percent of the nonprofits told the survey they have tried new, innovative things over the last few years. Barker said she hopes to link in all of the museums and libraries in Franklin County to provide information for the site. The society received a Kansas Humanities Commission grant for the Kansas 150th for the project, Barker said.
