OTTAWA — The Ottawa City Commission agreed Wednesday night to take back Old 59 Highway. City public works director Andy Haney told commissioners that the state will play Killough Construction of Ottawa more than $1.4 million to resurface and repair the road before it becomes an Ottawa street. That includes replacing the Skunk Run bridge on Main Street, he said. When work begins in a couple of months, traffic will have to be detoured off Main Street at certain times and certain locations, which he said could be nightmarish for drivers at times. The street will be re-marked to make the street downtown two lane with a left-hand turn lane and bicycle lanes.
