WELDA – U.S. 169 will soon be closed at Welda. Brian Schafer, Kansas Department of Transportation, told the Anderson County Review the old Santa Fe railroad bridge will be removed and replaced with a box culvert over the Prairie Spirit Trail. The road will be closed in about two to three weeks, he said. Traffic between Garnett and Iola will be detoured to U.S. 59. A local detour will allow Welda residents to get on U.S. 169 south of the bridge.
