EMPORIA — A public meeting on expanding Amtrak passenger rail service in Kansas will be Thursday night in Emporia. The meeting hosted by the Kansas Department of Transportation will be 5 to 7 thursday in the Flint Hills Room at the Best Western motel on U.S. 50. The meeting is a come-and-go meeting where you can look at displays or talk to KDOT experts. However, KDOT will have a formal presentation at 5:20 and 6:20. KDOT is looking at four options that would connect Kansas City and Fort Worth, Texas. The Emporia meeting is part of a series of public meetings on the proposal.
