LYNDON — A hearing for a Missouri man accused of murdering his family in Burlingame during the Thanksgiving holiday will be June 22-23 in Osage County District Court. At the preliminary hearing, prosecutors will show evidence why they believe James Kraig Kahler killed his wife, two daughters and his wife’s grandmother. The Topeka Capital-Journal reported that Magistrate Judge Jon Stephen Jones will allow the 11-year-old boy who survived, Sean Kahler, to testify by a closed-circuit television. A social worker told Jones that testifying in front of his father could cause more trauma for the boy. The elder Kahler is charged with capital murder in the deaths of his wife, 44-year-old Karen Kahler; his daughters, 18-year-old Emily and 16-year-old Lauren; and Karen Kahler’s grandmother, 89-year-old Dorothy Wight at Wight’s house. Kahler is the former director of the Columbia, Mo., municipal utility and was involved in a bitter divorce.
