OTTAWA — The Ottawa animal shelter will have a new location and a new name when it reopens Tuesday. Manager Becky Bentley said the animals have been moved from the old Bea Martin Peck shelter on West 19th to the new state-of-the-art facility east of Ottawa on K-68. The shelter will have a new name, Prairie Paws. The new shelter will be beneficial for the animals that stay there, offering more space and better facilities, she said. Although the facility is new, there’s still a need for volunteers at the new shelter, she said. There will be a grand opening in July, she said. She said there will be a memorial to the shelter’s original benefactor and namesake, Bea Martin Peck, at the new facility.
