COLUMBIA, Mo. — A 46-year-old Paola man fell 25 feet to his death Tuesday morning while working on a building in Columbia, Mo. The Columbia Daily Tribune reported Larry Embley Jr. worked for Design Metals of Grain Valley, Mo. The company told the newspaper that Embley was wearing a safety restraint attached to the roof of the building. The company said Embley’s lanyard became tangled and he unhooked the safety latch to untangle it. He stepped beyond the metal roof area and fell to the floor inside the building. ork at the site was halted. The federal Ocupational Safety and Health Administration were investigating the accident. The building is abandoned but is being converted into an IBM technology center.
