OTTAWA — The Ottawa Prairie Paws animal shelter says it’s cat condos or cash. Shelter manager Becky Bentley said the board has contacted an attorney in its dispute with Horst Corporation, a Greeley, Colo., company. The dispute was featured on Kansas City TV Channel 4’s Problem Solvers segment over the weekend. Shelter officials ordered and paid for units called cat condos for cats at the new shelter. However, Bentley said Horst failed to deliver the condos, delaying the opening of the new shelter on K-68 and forcing modifications of some of its building plans. A reporter with Channel 4’s affiliate tried to talk to Horst officials, who refused to comment. The Ottawa animal shelter, formerly the Bea Martin Peck Animal Shelter, reopens today in a new state-of-the-art facility east of Ottawa along K-68 and with a new name, Prairie Paws. A grand opening will be July 10.
