TOPEKA — The Prairie Spirit Trail is now the state’s 25th park. Gov. Mark Parkinson signed a bill making the trail a park at a ceremony Friday in Topeka attended by area officials. Rep. Bill Feuerborn, D-Garnett; wrote the bill making the trail a park. The park designation means the state can now draw federal funds and grants for the park, simplifies the state’s financial bookkeeping and allows the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks to use state park equipment on the trail now, he said. The new park runs between Ottawa and Iola.
