OTTAWA — More than 700 Kansas law officers will take part in the annual Torch Run. Douglas County law officers will bring the torch to Ottawa from Lawrence today. Ottawa police Lt. Adam Weingartner, Franklin County Torch Run coordinator, said local officers will carry the torch from Ottawa to Beto Junction beginning Wednesday morning at 9 from the north Dairy Queen. The run is being dedicated to long-time COF former employee, Cindy Mendel, for her efforts on behalf of Special Olympics.
