WICHITA — Wichita State University career services director Jill Pletcher said it’s going to be tough for new graduates to find jobs in Kansas this summer. Pletcher said even in what have been high-demand jobs such as health, engineering and education, jobs are tight. Since the last year, there haven’t been many new jobs in Kansas and whenever there’s an opening, there are lots and lots of applicants, she said. Some graduates are looking at the tradition option for students in a sour economy – going to graduate school, she said. But even that is no guarantee of a job when they get out, she said. Some graduates might help their job hunt by volunteering for groups that interest them, she said.
