BETO JUNCTION — It was a chase that had no arresting developments. Local law enforcement officers and Central Heights cross-country runners who ran from downtown Ottawa passed the Special Olympics torch to Coffey County officers at Beto Junction Wednesday afternoon. The Torch Run concludes in Wichita Friday in Wichita for the opening of the Kansas Special Olympics. Ottawa police Lt. Adam Weingartner said ever since Wichita police came up with the idea 30 years ago, the Torch Run has a major fundraiser for Special Olympics.
