OTTAWA — The Ottawa City Commission rezoned an area just outside and north of the city limits Wednesday night. As a result of an agreement with the county, the city has taken over most planning and zoning control of an urban growth area in a ring around Ottawa. Over the last few months, the city has been changing the zoning categories in the growth area. However, this batch of rezoning actions has spurred opposition by foes who worry that the rezoning efforts are an effort to annex the areas. Commissioner Gene Ramsey said the commission isn’t annexing the area and the action is merely rezoning the properties to city categories from county categories.
