WASHINGTON — June is National Safety Month. The National Safety Council declared it National Safety Month in 1996 as one way to prevent accidental injuries and deaths. Kansas Department of Health and Environment secretary Roderick Bremby said you can mark the month by making sure you’re prepared for emergencies. You can get ready with an emergency supply kit with enough food and water for three days for all family members. That includes one gallon of water per person per day, a battery-powered or hand-crank radio, a whistle, plastic bags and ties, pliers and a first-aid kit, he said. Check the web site www.ready.gov.
