OSAWATOMIE — The John Brown statue in Osawatomie has its 75th anniversary this month. The life-sized bronze statue was dedicated in John Brown Memorial Park on the 135th anniversary of his birthday. The Osawatomie Journal reports that Kansas Gov. Alf Landon attended the day-long ceremony and praised Brown for fighting for what he believed to be right for the country.
