LAWRENCE — A photography exhibit on women serving in the U.S. Senate will be on display at the Dole Institute of Politics at the University of Kansas beginning Friday evening. Photojournalist Melina Mara began work on the project almost nine years ago. Her 38-photograph collection is called “Changing the Face of Power: Women in the U.S. Senate” debuts from 4 to 6 in the Simons Media Room at the Dole Institute. Refreshments will be served, and the public is invited. The exhibit was displayed at the Smithsonian Institution and will run at the Dole Institute through July 21. Dole archivist Morgan Davis said 38 women have served in the U.S. Senate with 17 of them serving right now.
