OTTAWA — Rodney White’s babysitter Jaime Birzer will have a pediatric cancer fundraiser this weekend in honor of Rodney, 7, who died last week after a two-year battle with cancer. Birzer will take part in the national fundraiser effort, Alex’s Lemonade Stand. Birzer said she got the idea from Rodney when he asked her to read a book about Alex’s Lemonade Stand. Before she died of cancer at the age of eight, Alex Scott raised thousands for cancer research with her lemonade stand. The foundation in her name has raised millions for pediatric cancer. Birzer hopes to raise at least $300. She’ll have her stand at Wal-Mart SuperCenter 3-5 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m.-noon Saturday and noon-3 p.m. Sunday.
