TOPEKA — The Kansas Department of Health and Environment said it continues to review the permit from Sunflower Electric for a controversial coal-fired power plant near Holcomb, in southwestern Kansas. Sunflower submitted the application for the permit in January. Sunflower will send in more information. The review is scheduled to be completed by the beginning of July. Following the review, a public comment period will begin, with public hearings expected in August.
