OTTAWA — A project to pave Montana Road between Sand Creek Road and the new U.S. 59 interchange got the green light from Franklin County commissioners Wednesday. Franklin County public works director Jim Haag said the Kansas Department of Transportation has approved the bid of King Construction, Oskaloosa, and asked that the county ratify it. The county will contribute $126,000 to the work. The gravel road had been severely damaged by the increase in traffic from the new highway. The work will begin soon and the road will closed during construction for most of the summer.
