LOUISBURG–A dispute over a dump truck has been taking up a lot of time at the Louisburg City Council. Glena Windisch is on the council, and she also owns a dump truck, which is parked on her property on Broadway Road. Margaret Arnett is a Louisburg resident, and for months has complained that when drivers try to pass the truck, it’s so wide that drivers are forced into the opposite lane. Arnett recently came to a council meeting with a petition that she says contained 93 signatures in support of having the truck moved. Windisch says her truck is no wider than an ordinary pickup and shouldn’t cause any additional obstruction. Windisch says the petition presented by Arnett also contains only 81 signatures, and many of those are non-residents or fake names. The City Council is expected to take up in July a draft ordinance concerning commercial truck traffic on Louisburg streets.
