OSAWATOMIE–It’s going to be a very long night tonight in Osawatomie, but it’s all for a good cause. It’s the annual Miami County Relay for Life sponsored by the American Cancer Society. The event will start at 6 tonight and run till 6 tomorrow morning at Lynn Dickey Field at Osawatomie High School. Susan Gorman is coordinator of the event, and she says the 12 hour walk is to raise money for research, but it has a deeper meaning. She says the reason it goes from dusk to dawn is to symbolize the darkness of a person’s journey through cancer. Coming out in the dawn symbolizes hope of a cure.
