CENTRAL HEIGHTS — A 13-year-old Central Heights seventh-grade speller saw the sights in Washington, D.C. However, Chase Brown had his sights on the semi-finals of the National Spelling Bee but misspelled the word “monadnock.” Monadnock is a an isolated hill, ridge or erosion-resistant rock named after Mount Monadnock in New Hampshire. Chase told the Anderson County Review he was disappointed but he’ll be ready for next year.
