OTTAWA – At Monday’s meeting, Ottawa city commissioners started budget work on the city’s biggest fund – the general fund. City manager Richard Nienstedt said the commissioners didn’t get all the way through it and will finish their ook at the general fund next week. The general fund is the city’s main “household” fund and pays for a wide variety of city functions including police and fire, streets and public works, parks and planning, he said.
