OSAWATOMIE — The Osawatomie Journal reported that some Osawatomie residents have picked up a new hobby – competing in ironman triathalons. Galen Critchfield and Angela Rupp are among those who competed in the Kkansas 70.3 Ironman at Lawrence earlier this month. An ironman triathalon includes swimming more than a mile, riding bicycles for 56 miles and running more than 13 miles for a total of 70 and one-third miles without a break. Critchfield said several Miami County residents may also take part in ironman races. A shorter triathalon will be Aug. 29 in the Midwest Meltdown at Miola Lake at Paola.
