OTTAWA — Although county commissioners have ordered that no county agency or department ask for more money than they received this year, Gene Hirt of Williamsburg asked them Wednesday to make an exception for the budget for elderly services. The budget helps pay for the county general transportation and nutrition program, which are absolutely necessary for the county’s elderly, he said. Because of the economy, there is a sharply increased demand for those services, he said. The county commission will continue working on the budget through July.
